Introducing Chris jr
I mentioned yesterday I would introduce Chris’ replacement today, and here he is, Chris IdoNotes jr.
The three IMigos is now only two.
We just got back from dropping Chris at Johannesburg airport for his flight back to the USA. Obviously this is a big blow for our traveling team but all is not lost, I have already found a replacement and I will be introducing him to you all tomorrow!
Live band at a local mall
We did some shopping and came across a local band, Soweto Marimba Youth League, that were quite talented. Carl purchased a cd from them and I caught this video of one of their songs.
The young dancers that also sold their music were fun as well. The cd Carl bought was Rhythm under African Skies featuring the Orlando Children’s Home Choir.
Our Drive to Glen Afric
As you have seen by now on Flickr, we had a terrific time at Glen Afric. The staff was knowledgeable and the animals amazing. Being able to be close and touch ones you normally only see in a zoo scenario made it all worthwhile. I did worry we may not make it there. I think this quick clip shows why.
To see all of my pictures from Glen Afric, you can click below to see the tag. Carl has an amazing set himself of the animals and trip there.

South African people – The Mia family
You may have read in previous blogs about how friendly we have found the South African people during our stay here. Well, tonight was another example of their extreme hospitality when Carl and I visited (by invitation) Abdul Mia and his delightful family in Mayfair, Joburg. As Abdul has mentioned, this Mayfair is a little different to the one in London – situated on the other side of Joburg to where we are, it was a quick 20 minute drive. We were welcomed by Abdul, his wife and two daughters with South African hospitality including guava juice, Avocado pudding, Masala Tea and biscuits and really yummy homemade Chicken samosas. We spent the evening talking about the World Cup, world politics and other amusing anecdotes. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening and we’d like to thank Abdul and his family for their hospitality.
A day without football, so a day with animals.
Today was our first day without football, what with there being a two day break until the Quarter Finals begin. So today we did something different, we headed off to a nearby game park where they rehabilitate animals. This had a few benefits for us over a regular game reserve in that we knew we were going to see some animals and in some cases even get very close to them. As usual I dragged the camera along with me and snapped a few pictures, which you can see here.
